مزدور ’’مزدور‘‘ کو پہلے زمانے میں ’’مزور‘‘ (یعنی دال مہلہ کے بغیر) بھی بولتے اور لکھتے تھے۔ اسی طرح ، ’’مزدوری‘‘ کو ’’مزوری‘‘ بھی لکھتے اور بولتے تھے۔ بعد والوں نے دال کو ساقط کرنا ترک کردیا۔ اور اب ’’مزدور‘‘ مع دال ہی صحیح ہے۔ فارسی میں یہ لفظ مع اول مضموم یعنی’’مُزدور‘‘ بروزن ’’پرنور‘‘ ہے۔ لیکن اردو والوں نے فارسی تلفظ چھوڑ کر میم پر زبر لگا لیا۔
