صیاد کے دل سے چمن کا لطف جاتا رہا یعنی جو کام اپنے سے کیا جاتا ہے اس میں بہت لطف آتا ہے اور جو کام ضرورت کے ماتحت مجبوری سے کرنا پڑتا ہے اس میں کوئی مزہ باقی نہیں رہتا ہر روز کی دید شوق کو مٹا دیتی ہے

چمن کا شوق بلبل کے دل سے نہیں جاتا یعنی جس بات کا کسی کو شوق ہو وہ دل سے نہیں جاتی

اگر تجھے پھول چننے کا شوق ہے تو کسی چمن میں جا یعنی اگر تم کسی مقصد میں کامیابی حاصل کرنا چاہتے ہو تو گھر سے نکلو اور اس مقصد کو حاصل کرنے کے لیے مناسب تدبیر اختیار کرو، بغیر تھوڑی سی دوڑ دھوپ کِیے گھر بیٹھ رہنے سے کوئی مقصد پورا نہیں ہو سکتا

(اقبالؔ کا یہ فارسی مصرع بطور کہاوت اردو میں مستعمل) جب راگ کا شوق کم دیکھو تو آواز میں اور اثر پیدا کرو، یعنی جب دیکھو کہ لوگ تمھاری طرف متوجہ نہیں ہیں تو اور زیادہ پر اثر بات کہو
